I love to work. Ever since I started Punk Planet magazine at 19 years old, working—solving problems, telling stories, putting things out in the world, creating with and for community—has been the thing that drives me.
In his beautiful experimental memoir Goodbye Again, Jonny Sun writes:
I find the idea of work, and working, comforting. It feels like I can leave everything else behind, but as long as I am with myself, I can always work, I can always do something with my time. It is something I can always turn to.
Work is always something I have turned to. Sometimes that work is huge, like founding companies and building kick-ass teams to execute on our plans. Sometimes that work is small, like making bespoke labors-of-love that connect with communities. But it's always important, always impactful, and always something new and exciting.
For the last few years, I've taken my love of work and my unique approach to it and have been helping others solve their problems, build their stuff, and put awesome things out into the world. I genuinely love to work, and I'd love to work with you.
Finding unconventional answers. More than anything, I love talking through tricky problems and coming up with unique solutions to them. Maybe that means just jumping on a call or two to hash things out, or maybe it's rolling up sleeves and really getting to work alongside you. I love a good problem. Bonus points for ones I haven't solved before or industries that are new to me, because I also love to learn new things along the way.
Cultivating connections. I love creating spaces for shared culture and collaboration, fostering dialogue, and building communities around common interests and concerns. Community is everything now, and I've been building with and for communities for my entire career. I love helping folks figure out how to best make things their own communities will love.
Designing for people first. I believe in making things that matter, and that starts with truly understanding who you are making it for. I love understanding the actual needs of actual people and designing things that will solve for them. Putting people at the center of the work is incredible, and I can help put them at the center of yours.
Finding new ways to tell stories (and new stories to tell). I've done editorial work my entire career. I've written articles, I've edited magazines, I've produced podcasts, and shot videos. But I've also told stories in entirely new and different ways and I love working with people to figure out the best way to tell their story.
Jamming econo. While I've run multi-million dollar programs, my heart is always DIY. I love helping people design scrappy projects, low-rez prototypes, or fully-formed ideas on the cheap. Let's jam econo together.
Exploring the edges of the possible. I love experiments and trying new things. I love pushing existing technologies and approaches in different directions. I can help you sort the good tech from the bullshit and help chart new paths forward.
